asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a statement about the future of Jubaland.

Mr. Mayhew

No, Sir. Jubaland was ceded to Italy under the Treaty signed in London on 15th July, 1924, and now forms part of former Italian Somaliland, the disposal of which is to be considered by the General Assembly of the United Nations at its present session under the terms of the Italian Peace Treaty.

Mr. Baldwin

Before any decision is arrived at, will the hon. Gentleman consult the elected members of the Kenya Legislature, who think that Jubaland should be returned to Kenya?

Mr. Mayhew

The restoration of Juba-land to Kenya is another question.
