asked the Minister of Labour the number of persons whom he has directed to remain within an industry since the coming into force of the present Control of Engagement Order.

Between 6th October, 1947, and the end of September, 1948, 129 directions were issued to workers normally employed in agriculture and 338 to workers normally employed in coalmining.
