HC Deb 16 November 1948 vol 458 c175
1. Mr. Gerald Williams

asked the Secretary of State for War how many photographs of war graves have now been sent to next of kin; and how many are still outstanding.

The Secretary of State for War (Mr. Shinwell)

Up to the end of October approximately 185,000. Some 37,000 remain to be sent.

Mr. Williams

Does the Secretary of State realise that these photographs of war graves mean a great deal to relatives, and will he do his best to speed up the remaining 37,000 which have been outstanding for so long?

Mr. Shinwell

Certainly. I have given the matter my personal attention.
