HC Deb 16 November 1948 vol 458 c202

The following Question stood upon the Order Paper in the name of Mr. BOYD-CARPENTER:

41. To ask the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the fact that employees cannot be dismissed without his sanction, he was consulted by the Wolverhampton Council before their introduction of a closed shop for their employees.

Mr. H. D. Hughes

On a point of Order. Would you inform me, Mr. Speaker, what redress is open to an hon. Member when another hon. Member puts down a Question—an ill-informed Question—interfering with the first hon. Member's constituency without giving him any notice, and then fails to turn up to call that Question?

Mr. Speaker

I think that is a little unfair on the hon. Member who put down the Question. I understand he is burying his mother; naturally he is not here.
