HC Deb 15 November 1948 vol 458 c7
10. Colonel J. R. H. Hutchison

asked the Minister of Supply why permission asked for by Bio Electrics, Ltd., to send to the hon. and gallant Member for Central Glasgow the approved specification and drawings of electric soldering irons as laid down by the Co-ordinating Committee on Hand Tools has not been granted, although asked for in July last.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

This specification was a draft which was circulated to manufacturers for their comments. It was subsequently withdrawn for reconsideration and finally abandoned. While permission to send a copy to the hon. and gallant Member was not specifically refused, it was assumed that the firm would not, in these circumstances, wish to do so. If, however, he would like a copy of the draft, I shall be glad to send him one.

Colonel Hutchison

Is the specification which replaced the one that was withdrawn available for the use of Members, if they want it?

Mr. Strauss

If there is a specification which has replaced the one which has been withdrawn, I will certainly send one to the hon. and gallant Member, if he so desires.
