HC Deb 15 November 1948 vol 458 c16
19. Mr. Skeffington-Lodge

asked the Minister of Supply whether he will make a statement about the shortage of sugar-beet forks; and where this exists, what steps are being taken to alleviate it.

20. Mr. George Jeger

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware of the shortage of fully-strapped garden forks; and whether he will get more of these made.

21. Mr. David Renton

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware of the present shortage of spades, forks, beet forks, and potato forks; and what steps are being taken to overcome the shortage.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

I am not aware of any general shortage of these tools. Supplies of sugar-beet forks for the present season will not be less than were available last season. There may, however, be seasonal shortages locally of all types of spades and forks. If the hon. Members have evidence of a shortage in a particular area and will let me have details, I will draw the manufacturers' attention to it.
