HC Deb 13 May 1948 vol 450 cc2272-3
45. Mr. Erroll

asked the Lord President of the Council when the post of secretary to the Industrial Health Research Board will be filled.

The Lord President of the Council (Mr. Herbert Morrison)

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave to a similar Question asked by him on 4th December, 1947. Since then another medical officer has been appointed by the Medical Research Council to their staff allocated to this work, in addition to the one who already acts as secretary of the Board, and no further action is considered necessary.

Mr. Erroll

Can the Minister therefore give an assurance that this rather lethargic board will now do a bit of active work?

Mr. Morrison

I think that that is rather gratuitous and unfounded. It does not seem, therefore, that action is necessary.
