asked the Minister of Education how many graduates have left the teaching profession in 1945, 1946, and 1947.

Mr. Hardman

I regret that this information is not available. There was, however, no significant change between March, 1946, and March, 1947, in the number of graduates known to be teaching in grant-aided schools and other educational institutions, the figures being 34,234 and 34,423, respectively.

Mr. Amory

As there has been a steady loss of graduates into the universities, does the Parliamentary Secretary think that the steps taken to deal with the situation and the remedies are satisfactory?

Mr. Hardman

Yes, Sir, we are satisfied, and we think we have found the remedy.
