HC Deb 12 May 1948 vol 450 c2119
54. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware of the shortage of soap for children in schools; whether he will issue a special month's supply that can be held as reserve and by being stored for one month will last longer and this will enable schools to have supplies available all the time which cannot be managed at present.

Dr. Summerskill

I know of ho general shortage of soap for school children, but I will gladly look into any particular case if my hon. Friend will send me details. I regret that the difficult supply position will not admit of a special reserve for schools.
