asked the Minister of Works whether he has considered the application of the Lancashire County Cricket Club to erect a temporary dining room at Old Trafford ground; and if he has given permission for this work to be done.

Yes, Sir, I have given instructions for the necessary building licence to be issued.

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that his answer tempts me to ask him whether the permit will be granted immediately, so that we can get on with the job before the Australians play Lancashire?

I understand that the secondhand steel necessary is available and that no timber or other controlled materials are required.
