HC Deb 18 March 1948 vol 448 c2267
30. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many cases have occurred during the last year of dangerous drugs being lost or left by doctors, unprotected in cars or elsewhere and reported to the Metropolitan Police.

The Secretary of State for the Home Department (Mr. Ede)

The records of the Metropolitan Police show that four losses and 60 thefts of this nature were reported in 1947.

Mr. Freeman

Would not this be a very good time for my right hon. Friend to suggest to doctors that they should be very careful what they do?

Mr. Ede

Far be it from me to get involved in a controversy with doctors.

Mr. Somerville Hastings

Does my right hon. Friend realise that doctors have been very much engrossed with political and other considerations during recent months?
