HC Deb 15 March 1948 vol 448 c1699
57. Major Wise

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he is aware that many of the shrimp fishermen of King's Lynn area have not gone out to sea during the last few weeks owing to the importation of foreign shrimps; that the shrimping industry in that area is seriously declining and will he look into the position with a view to taking adequate steps to ensure that the British shrimping industry does not cease to exist.

Mr. T. Williams

No, Sir. There is no evidence that the shrimping industry is declining in the King's Lynn area, where 7,558 cwts. were landed in 1947 as against 3,600 cwts. in 1938.
