§ 71. Mr. W. J. Brownasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what will be the total sum receivable by way of pension and children's allowances by the widow of police constable Edgar recently killed in the execution of his duty.
§ The Secretary of State for the Home Department (Mr. Ede)I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to a Question by the hon. and gallant Member for Finchley (Captain Crowder) on 23rd February.
§ Mr. BrownMay I ask that, as soon as the Police Pension Bill has gone through its stages in the other House, the Police Council should be asked to advise about making provision in cases of this kind, and that early consideration will be given to more generous provision and as early as possible?
§ Mr. EdeI intend to treat this case, and similar cases, as matters of urgency, as soon as I have the powers.
