HC Deb 10 March 1948 vol 448 cc1219-20
31 and 32. Mr. G. Lang

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies (1) why Mr. Baker, of the Watch Tower Society, was deprived of his- personal library of literature when he arrived at Takoradi in June last; and why, despite repeated requests, it has not been restored to him;

(2) why certain books on religious subjects, published by the Watch Tower Bible Society and freely circulated in this country, were banned from circulation in the Gold Coast.

Mr. Rees-Williams

I am inviting the Governor of the Gold Coast to furnish me with a report on these matters, and I will communicate with my hon. Friend when his reply is received.
