§ 16. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what provision exists for the defence of poor persons in the administration of justice in the various African British Colonies respectively.
§ Mr. Rees-WilliamsProvision exists in the legislation of most of the African Territories for assigning legal aid to poor persons in certain cases. I have asked all the Governors concerned for a report on the matter and I will write to my hon. and learned Friend when I have received their replies.
§ Mr. HughesWill the Minister ensure that, as far as possible, the administration of justice in those Colonies is similar to, and as near as possible to, the administration of justice in this country?
