HC Deb 09 March 1948 vol 448 c997
26. Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will now resume the prewar practice of issuing the small silver T.A. badges.

The Secretary of State for War (Mr. Shinwell)

Yes, Sir. This is already in hand.

Mr. Charles Williams

Will these badges be of silver, and not like our most unfortunate cupro-nickel coins?

Mr. Shinwell

I am not quite sure whether they are actually silver, but pretty nearly, anyhow.

Mr. Williams

Then will the right hon. Gentleman ensure that they are attractive, and not unattractive as the cupro-nickel coins have become? These coins are very dirty.

Mr. Shinwell

Anything we furnish is always attractive.
