HC Deb 09 March 1948 vol 448 cc995-6
21. Mr. J. L. Williams

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he proposes to alter the practice of making a deduction from treatment allowances in respect of sick pay or wages received during a course of treatment.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Pensions (Mr. Blenkinsop)

Yes, Sir, I am very glad to say that, as from the first pay day in April, the allowances at the 100 per cent. pension rate, which are payable during a course of approved treatment which prevents a pensioner from working, will be paid without any deduction on account of sick pay or wages.

Mr. Williams

Is my hon. Friend aware that this concession will be received with much appreciation in a substantial number of homes in the country.
