HC Deb 08 March 1948 vol 448 cc781-2
33. Mr. Hugh Fraser

asked the Minister of Works why more than 20 baths, 30 wash basins and 500 steel sprung beds are lying derelict in the grounds of his Ministry's estate at Yarnfield in Staffordshire.

Mr. Key

The baths and basins form part of the local maintenance depot's stock. The bed frames are surplus and the timber will be used for other purposes. None of this material is derelict.

Mr. Fraser

Is the Minister aware that I spent an afternoon looking at this and formed the impression that it was derelict? For whom is the depot available?

Mr. Key

No, of course I am not aware of the hon. Member's activities, nor of the impressions he forms when he sees things. As I say, this is not surplus, and it is being used for Ministry purposes.
