§ 78. Mr. Wadsworthasked the Minister of Health whether in view of the high cost of erection of permanent houses at the present time, and the prospect of further increases in future, he will introduce legislation at the earliest possible date to increase the annual contribution of £16 10s. made by the Ministry under the 1938 Act, in order that such houses may be let at a rental within the means of prospective tenants, a large number of whom will otherwise be unable to pay an inclusive rent of £1 per week, the lowest economic figure which can be charged under existing circumstances.
§ Mr. BevanA review will be made in due time under Section 16 of the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1946, of the contributions payable under that Act, in the light of the latest information available about building costs and other relevant factors.
