§ 38. Mr. W. J. Brownasked the Minister of Fuel and Power when he proposes to reply to the letters from the hon. Member for Rugby, dated 22nd September, 1947, 20th October, 1947, 28th November, 1947, 30th December, 1947, 16th January, 1948, 30th January, 1948, and 13th February, 1948, about the case 514 of Mr. A. L. Davis, of Woodbine Farm, Grandboro Fields, Braunston, Rugby.
§ Mr. GaitskellI have written to the hon. Member explaining the unfortunate circumstances in which no reply was sent to his letter. An increased allowance was granted to Mr. Davis on 28th September and his full allowance for the current rationing period will be assessed on the advice of the county agricultural executive committee.
§ Mr. BrownIs the Minister aware that my purpose in putting down this Question was not to embarrass him or his hard-working civil servants, but to ensure a reply on behalf of a constituent; and if a similar slip-up should occur in the future—and it might occur in any Department—would he ask his officers to get into touch with the Member whose letter has gone astray and ask him to supply a copy?
§ Mr. GaitskellI will certainly adopt that suggestion.
§ 39. Mr. W. J. Brownasked the Minister of Fuel and Power when he proposes to reply to the letters from the hon. Member for Rugby, dated 23rd January, 30th January, 9th February, 13th February, and 19th February, 1948, about the case of Mr. A. C. Harris of the Carpenter Arms, Kineton, Warwickshire.
§ Mr. GaitskellI have now written to the hon. Member.
