70. Mr. Skeffington-Lodge

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department for what reasons the receipt of newspapers by I.R.A. prisoners in Parkhurst Goal is now banned, when they have hitherto been allowed to have them posted to the prison by their relatives and others.

Under the Standing Prison Orders, these prisoners, like all other prisoners who by good conduct have earned special privileges, may receive one weekly journal or newspaper paid for from private funds or sent in by friends. I cannot find that any of these prisoners has been debarred from receiving a weekly paper under this standing order.

If I send my right hon. Friend clear evidence in proof of the allegation I make in the Question, will he look into it and have it dealt with?
