HC Deb 04 March 1948 vol 448 c520
5 Captain John Crowder

asked the Minister of Labour why his Department are advertising for labour relations officers required by the British Electrical Authority; and what will be their duties.

Mr. Isaacs

My Department was not responsible for the insertion of an advertisement, and I have no information as to the nature of the duties of these officers.

Captain Crowder

Is not the right hon. Gentleman the responsible authority for producing these labour relations officers? Do not the British Electrical Authority ask him to advise them? Cannot he say anything about it at all? I thought that he was in charge of manpower.

Mr. Isaacs

Yes, but I could not answer the Question whether my Department has been approached about this. The Question asks only about the advertising. I will inquire whether we were approached, because we should like to have the opportunity of supplying manpower for any vacancy.

53. Colonel Gomme-Duncan

asked the Minister of Labour how many posts of labour relations officers to be appointed by the British Electrical Authority he has been asked to fill.

Mr. Isaacs

None, Sir.

Colonel Gomme-Duncan

If the Minister is asked to provide them, will he definitely refuse?

Mr. Isaacs

That is very similar to a question I was asked by another hon. Member just now.
