HC Deb 02 March 1948 vol 448 c190
24 and 25. Mr. Willis

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many persons availed themselves of the facilities offered by the Small Dwellings Acquisition (Scotland) Acts and amending Acts to acquire ownership of houses in 1947 in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and the rest of Scotland, respectively; and the total amounts involved;

(2) what are the arrangements for publicising the facilities offered by the Small Dwellings Acquisition (Scotland) Acts and amending Acts for assisting persons to acquire ownership of dwelling-houses for personal occupation.

Mr. Woodburn

No recent information is available about the number of advances made by local authorities under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts, but I am Calling for a return and will send the hon. Member the particulars for which he asks. It is for authorities to make such arrangements as local conditions may require for publicising the facilities which they offer under the Acts.

Mr. Willis

Is my right hon. Friend aware that, for various reasons, certain local authorities are not very anxious to publicise these arrangements, and will he look into the matter with a view to making them more generally known?

Mr. Woodburn

Yes, Sir.
