HC Deb 02 March 1948 vol 448 cc204-5
50. Mr. W. J. Brown

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the reassessment of pensions under the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1947, has now been completed; or in how many cases is payment still outstanding.

Sir S. Cripps

Not quite; 500 civil servants and 3,000 teachers have still to be reassessed.

Mr. W. J. Brown

I am very much obliged, but may I ask that every possible step shall be taken to speed up the payment of these allowances? They are now a year overdue, and the people are suffering very badly.
