HC Deb 01 March 1948 vol 448 c19
27. Major Guy Lloyd

asked the Minister of Transport to what extent the official appeal for week-end work on the turn-round of railway wagons, paid for at time and three-quarter rates, has led to a falling off in work done during the ordinary working hours of the week.

Mr. Barnes

None, Sir. I am advised by the British Transport Commission that, on the contrary, the average daily discharge of wagons during ordinary working hours increased during the period of the wagon turn-round campaign.
