HC Deb 01 March 1948 vol 448 cc21-2
40. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Thomas Moore

asked the Minister of Transport to what extent the arrangements made, in the light of last winter's experience, for clearing roads and railways of heavy snowfalls have proved successful during the past few days.

Mr. Barnes

Conditions during the past week have not been unduly severe but the preparations made enabled the situation to be tackled with speed and efficiency and no serious or prolonged blockages occurred.

Sir T. Moore

The right hon. Gentleman will appreciate that this Question was put down before Spring arrived.

Mr. Barnes

I want to thank the hon. and gallant Gentleman for enabling me to make that statement.
