§ 39. Mr. Jannerasked the Minister of Transport whether in cases where serious disturbance of traffic is caused by road repairs in built-up areas he will recommend to local highway authorities that such work can be continued throughout the 24 hours or for at least two shifts in each day insofar as non-residential parts of such areas are concerned.
§ Mr. BarnesHighway authorities are fully alive to this problem and do their best to minimise any disturbance caused by road repairs. I do not think any formal recommendation to them is necessary but my hon. Friend's Question will no doubt bring the matter again to their notice.
