HC Deb 24 June 1948 vol 452 cc1554-5
40. Sir Waldron Smithers

asked the Minister of Health why the British Institute of Radiology has not been included in the list of those asked to nominate representatives to the Advisory Committee to assist him in the making of regulations for the control of radioactive materials.

Mr. Bevan

Consultations on the appointment of members of the Advisory Committee have not yet taken place, but the British Institute of Radiology will be among the organisations consulted.

Sir W. Smithers

May I ask that a representative of this body will be invited?

Mr. Bevan

No, Sir. It will be consulted.

Sir W. Smithers

As this is a most important body, and is the only organisation in the world which embraces all the treatment for radioactive matters for medical purposes, will the Minister give an assurance that a representative of that body will be invited?

Mr. Bevan

No. I cannot give that assurance ahead of the consultation.
