HC Deb 24 June 1948 vol 452 c1537
13. Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will arrange with the B.B.C. for a broadcast or broadcasts to be made inviting the attention of all concerned to the forthcoming preparation of the electoral roll and of the steps required for inclusion.

The Secretary of State for the Home Department (Mr. Ede)

There are two steps which a person can take: he can make sure, first, that his identity card carries the right address on the qualifying date, 30th June, and, second, that his name is included in the electors lists when they are published in August. The B.B.C. gave publicity on 2nd June to a notice drawing attention to the first point, and no doubt this Question and answer will serve to draw attention to it again. Publicity will be given in August to the need to inspect the lists.
