§ 13. Mr. Skinnardasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what action has been taken in Sierra Leone to carry out the principles enunciated in the memorandum on Colonial Mining Policy of 1946; and on what terms a concession has 1336 recently been granted to Messrs. Hopkin and Williams (Travancore), Ltd.
Mr. Creech JonesThe principles have been accepted and are being adopted in the grant of new concessions. Messrs. Hopkin and Williams, Ltd. have been granted an exclusive prospecting licence for two years in respect of titanium ores and iron ores in the Colony peninsula of Sierra Leone.
§ Mr. SkinnardIs there a concession in the agreement for the working of such ores, and if so, for what time?
Mr. Creech JonesThis is a prospecting licence. I have not the exact terms of it, but it will last for about a couple of years.
§ Mr. SkinnardWould my right hon. Friend look into it and, if possible, let me have the conditions of the concession in that respect?
