§ 11. Mr. Sorensenasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the hardship caused by the necessity of women who must have special post-confinement belts or abdominal corsets being compelled to give up coupons for this purpose; and whether he will make some concession in this direction.
§ Mr. H. WilsonSurgical belts and corsets of not more than six inches in width specially designed for a number of specified conditions may be purchased without coupons. Coupons are required for other types because they cannot be clearly distinguished from garments made for ordinary wear. I am, however, always prepared to consider sympathetically applications for extra coupons to meet abnormal expenditure on these garments.
§ Mr. SorensenMay I take it from that that there is some hope that it will be possible to purchase these garments without coupons?
§ Mr. WilsonI said that I am always prepared to consider sympathetically individual cases.
