Whereas lighting authorities now generally work to a figure 5 of 50 per cent. of prewar consumption of fuel for street lighting, I am prepared to agree an increase to 75 per cent. in view of the need, on safety grounds, for a better standard of street lighting. Lighting authorities are being so informed.
