asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that British trade with Portugal has been severely restricted as a consequence of the refusal to grant import licences for Portuguese wines, etc., into this country; and what steps he is taking to deal with this situation.

Licences for the import of Portuguese wines have, in fact, been granted on a scale agreed with the Portuguese Government. According to my information, United Kingdom exports to Portugal are not, in general, subject to severe restrictions, but if the hon. Member has any particular case in mind, I shall be glad to look into it.
