§ 25. Sir P. Hannonasked the Minister of. Education if he has had under consideration any scheme for the encouragement of the expansion of the Girls' Training Corps; if he realises the valuable educational influence of this organisation upon the training and character of young women throughout the country; and if he will stimulate interest in this cadet movement through local education committees.
§ Mr. TomlinsonYes, Sir. My Department has encouraged the Girls' Training Corps since its formation, both directly and through the local education authorities.
§ Sir P. HannonWhat steps does the Minister propose to take to give publicity to the importance of development in this way?
§ Mr. TomlinsonI cannot separate the Girls' Training Corps from the many other youth organisations which are doing excellent work. I would point out that this corps figures with the others in the publicity that is being given.
§ Sir P. HannonMay I take it that the Ministry are in full sympathy with the development of the youth movement in its various phases throughout the country?
§ Mr. TomlinsonYes, Sir, and that is shown by the grants which are constantly being given.
