HC Deb 08 July 1948 vol 453 cc578-9
63. Mr. A. Edward Davies

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what action is being taken to reduce the distribution costs of industrial and domestic coal.

Mr. Robens

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for North Portsmouth (Major Bruce) on 29th January last, to which I have nothing to add at present.

Mr. Davies

Is the Minister aware that there is a widespread feeling that some urgent action is called for in this matter?

Mr. Robens

Yes, Sir. We are well aware of that fact and, indeed, discussions between the National Coal Board and the distributors are at present continuing.
