HC Deb 08 July 1948 vol 453 c573
50. Mr. Collins

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he is now in a position to announce a decision regarding the date and manner of reimbursement of civil servants for property lost by enemy action whilst on duty overseas.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

A scheme has been drawn up under which payments are already being made. A few outstanding questions remain to be resolved, but I hope shortly to put the scheme into general operation.

Mr. Collins

Can my right hon. Friend say whether he is considering the position of those civil servants who were instructed by the Department to make claims from the Enemy Claims Commission, who so far are not receiving payment and who do not know what is their position?

Mr. Glenvil Hall

Of course, I have no knowledge of the type of claim to which my hon. Friend refers. Perhaps if he feels we are not doing justice to those individuals he will let me have details of any case he has in mind.
