HC Deb 26 January 1948 vol 446 c655
52. Mr. Hurd

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he is aware that it is impossible to purchase metal ear-tags needed for marking pedigree livestock; and if he will arrange for the manufacture of these to be resumed.

Mr. T. Williams

I understand that while there is some difficulty in obtaining tags of the riveted stud type, owing to the shortage of metal of the correct degree of softness, aluminium tags of the "clip-on" type are not difficult to obtain. If the hon. Member will send me details of any particular difficulty he has experienced, I will gladly look into it.

Mr. Hurd

Is the Minister aware that some pedigree stock keepers are having to send to Australia to obtain the type of ear-tags they require?

Mr. Williams

I was not aware of that.
