HC Deb 26 January 1948 vol 446 c658
60 Mr. Skeffington-Lodge

asked the Minister of Agriculture (1) whether he will give an assurance that he will not allow further labour and materials to be used in metalling spur or lateral roads up the fell sides in the vicinity of the Ennerdale Forest Road;

  1. (2) whether, in vie of the greater urgency of other road building projects and the need for employing all available manpower on work of vital importance, he will suspend work on the Ennerdale Forest Road in the Lake District;
  2. (3) what are the reasons which make the existing Ennerdale Forest Road unsuitable for moving the short and light trimmings which will alone be ready for transportation in the next few years from the plantings up this valley.

Mr. T. Williams

It is proposed greatly to reduce road operations at Ennerdale, and the answer to Question No. 60 is "Yes, Sir."
