HC Deb 22 January 1948 vol 446 c359
25. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the President of the Board of Trade what were the exports of whisky from Scotland to North Africa in December, 1947.

Mr. H. Wilson

Total exports of whisky to North Africa in December, 1947, amounted to 513 proof gallons valued at £1,019. Exports from Scotland are not recorded separately.

Mr. Hughes

Could the Minister give any information on the report which appeared in the Scottish Press on 30th December that an aeroplane left Prestwick Airport in my constituency with two crates of 24 bottles of whisky for the Leader of the Opposition?

Mr. Wilson

Such shipments are not separately specified, but if the hon. Gentleman would care to put a Question down I will look into it.

Mr. Gallacher

Is the Minister aware that when this report appeared in the Press some of the old miners in my constituency complained that they could not get a nip? If there are any of the 24 bottles left, would he pass them over to me to distribute?
