HC Deb 22 January 1948 vol 446 c351
8. Mr. Palmer

asked the President of the Board of Trade when the hon. Member for Wimbledon can expect a reply to his letters of 8th May, 24th July and 26th September of last year on the subject of the difficulty experienced by a firm in his constituency in obtaining cotton yarns.

Mr. H. Wilson

A reply has now been sent to my hon. Friend. I much regret the failure to reply earlier.

Mr. Palmer

While I accept the apology in a personal sense, will my right hon. Friend give an assurance that all letters from his Department to Members of this House will be given absolute priority?

Mr. Wilson

I am constantly going into this question to see how we can speed up replies to letters, not only to Members of this House, but to everyone.

Major Guy Lloyd

Is there in fact any precedent whatever that letters to Members of this House should receive absolute priority?
