HC Deb 21 January 1948 vol 446 c177
1. Mr. Somerville Hastings

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation whether he has considered the undesirable effect of showing foreign visitors to the metropolis the worst parts of London by conveying them through mean streets between the airports and airways terminal; and if he will establish for the future some more suitable route.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation (Mr. Lindgren)

This is a matter for the corporations, in conjunction with the licensing authority and the Commissioner of Police for the Metropolitan Area.

Mr. Piratin

Is not the short answer to the Question that London should he rebuilt and made a model for the whole world?
