§ 35. Mr. Rankinasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Cyprus Government Workers' Union has been recognised by the Government of Cyprus; and whether he is satisfied that there are no obstacles to the proper functioning of trade unions in Cyprus.
§ Mr. Rees-WilliamsThe Governor of Cyprus in Executive Council refused to sanction the registration of the proposed Cyprus Government Workers' Trade Union for the reasons stated in the reply to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Central Cardiff (Mr. G. Thomas) on 11th June, 1947. As regards the second part of the Question, my right hon. Friend is in communication with the Governor concerning a revision of the existing Cyprus trade unions and trade disputes law.
