I beg to move, in page 49, line 41, at the end, to insert: in lieu of the rates which would, apart from the provisions of this Part of this Act, be payable to rating authorities in respect of those hereditaments. In the Committee stage hon. Members were worried about the phrase, "for the benefit of local authorities." I hope that they will now feel that we have met the position by the proposal to insert explanatory words at the end of the Clause.

As this is the result of an Amendment which I put down in the Committee stage, I should like to express my gratitude, and I am sure that local authorities will be with me in being grateful to the Minister for accepting this Amendment.
