50. Mr. Somerville Hastings

asked the Minister of Labour what was the total cost to the Exchequer, of the London Appointments Office and its Scientific and Technical Branch for the year 1947, and how many applicants who registered with them were successfully placed in employment during that period.

The approximate cost of these two Offices for the year 1947 was £330,000. This covers all the other services provided, namely, administration of the Further Education and Training and Business Training Schemes and Careers Advice as well as the placing work. The
