§ 55. Sir John Mellorasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when the contract between the Treasury and the National Coal Board was made concerning the preparation and publication of the magazine entitled "Coal"; what were its terms; and when and to what extent was the contract altered.
§ Sir S. CrippsThere is no contract between the Treasury and the National Coal Board. Since 30th September last the magazine has been produced for the National Coal Board on the terms normally applicable to transactions between Exchequer Departments and non-Exchequer bodies, namely, repayment of the full cost.
§ Sir J. MellorWas it understood as part of this extraordinary arrangement that this magazine should boost Ministers? Has the Chancellor, for instance, seen the picture of the Minister of Fuel and Power sitting beside his empty grate—a touching sequel to his empty bath?
§ Sir S. CrippsThere are a great many pictures of Ministers in a great many papers.
