§ 29. Mr. Sutcliffeasked the Secretary of State for Air if he is aware that men are being retained in the Royal Air Force for several weeks after their release date, due solely to the fact that their records are missing; and by what authority this is being done.
§ Mr. A. HendersonNo airman's release should be delayed for more than a few days because his documents have been lost, and the particular case which the hon. Gentleman has brought to my notice, for which I am grateful, is exceptional. It is being specially investigated, and I will write to him as soon as possible.
§ Mr. SutcliffeIs the right hon. and learned Gentleman aware that I have already had a letter from him about this case, and can he give a definite undertaking that such retention will not occur again?
§ Mr. HendersonI cannot give a general undertaking that such things will not happen again. All that I can do is to ensure that regulations will be made which will obviate any such difficulty arising again.
