23. Mr. Teeling

asked the Postmaster-General how many Japanese are employed in the B.B.C. service to Japan; how many have been applied for and when; and what the reply has been, and when.

Mr. Wilfred Paling

The B.B.C. inform me that two Japanese nationals are employed in the service to Japan. As to the second and third parts of the Question, I regret I have no information.

Mr. Teeling

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the B.B.C. as far back as last September, before the members of the Delegation went to Japan, applied for leave for several Japanese broadcasters, and why cannot he give the House any further information?

Mr. Paling

I think the answer is that I have no control over the Corporation in that particular matter.
