HC Deb 10 February 1948 vol 447 c204
24. Mr. Stokes

asked the Secretary of State for War how many prisoners of war were repatriated from Great Britain and Middle East, respectively, during January 1948.

Mr. Shinwell

Approximately 19,200 prisoners of war were repatriated from Great Britain during January. The bulk of those due to be repatriated from the Middle East did not leave, owing to a shipping delay, until 1st February; including those who left on that date, the total was approximately 2,500.
