That the Purchase Tax (Alteration of Rates) (No. 3) Order, 1947 (S.R. & O., 1947. No. 2710), dated 19th December, 1947, made by the Treasury under the Finance (No. 2) Act, 1940, a copy of which Order was presented on 20th January, be approved."—[Mr. Glenvil Hall.]
§ Mr. Assheton (City of London)Since I understand that this is an Order which reduces taxation I only rise to say how much we on this side of the House support it. We are often told by the Government that too much money is chasing too few goods. The ordinary man in the street thinks that too much taxation is chasing too little money and we on this side of the House are glad to see any decrease in taxes.
