§ 14. Mr. Boyd-Carpenterasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies to what extent the cost of public works carried out in Cyprus since 1st January, 1947, falls on United Kingdom funds.
Mr. Creech JonesThe cost of public works carried out by the Cyprus Government since 1st January, 1947, which fell on United Kingdom funds was approximately £64,000. The whole of the amount is in respect of grants under the Colonial Development and Welfare Act. This figure does not, of course, take account of any public works expenditure in Cyprus by the Armed Forces, with which I am not concerned.
